“You never know when a moment and a few sincere words can have an impact on a life.” – Zig Ziglar
Often when we pick up a magazine or tune into the evening news, it appears at times that the whole world is just full of doom and gloom.
As people are frantically trying to live their lives, they can’t even take a few minutes to reflect on whether they are happy or not.
Obviously, we are not saying that it is possible to be happy all of the time. But many people manage to live in an overall state of happiness. But how do we achieve this?
When life feels overwhelmingly negative, it is easy to lose sight of how important happiness is. Most of the time people aren’t even aware, that they are the root of their own unhappiness.
More importantly, they are completely unaware that it is within their power to change. They don’t understand that happiness comes from within, but that it is a journey, taken one step at a time.
Thoughts of the Day
Feeling happy is vitally important in life. It has many fringe benefits. When you are happy, you tend to attract happy people to you. Happy people tend to be emotionally and physically healthier, more compassionate, creative, and energetic.
Generally, if you are happy, people tend to want to spend more time with you. When you are surrounded by positive, happy, creative, and energetic people you will see that the quality of your life improves. The more you spend with happy positive people the more will find that most of these people are also financially successful too.
Your happiness is not just good for you, it helps the people who are closest to you. Being positive can help others around you feel better about themselves, your family, friends, and colleagues will be happier the more time they spend with you.
When you look at the broader picture, what impact can happy people have on the world at large?
Is a happy person more likely to help or hurt his fellow man? If you are contented with your life, you are likely to make someone else miserable. We believe that happiness starts with the smallest step.
Instead of starting your day with a negative, why not start it with a very positive thought. Incorporating a thought for the day is a very useful habit.
Like most good habits, it is best to learn them at an age. The focus of our website is to help bring the power of positive thinking to our education system.

How to Integrate Thoughts of the Day into the School Day
The time children spend in education and their teachers have a huge and lasting impact on them. A teacher’s role is not only to impart the knowledge of academic skills but fostering a student’s confidence and self-esteem is equally as important.
An educator should take as many opportunities as possible to reinforce his or her students’ self-esteem, in the classroom and throughout the school. Happy students are productive students. They tend to learn at a more accelerated rate and are motivated to help others to learn.
Thoughts of the day and the school assembly
This is the ideal opportunity to impact the lives of your students. Assembly occurs before any classes take place. Take this opportunity to build a positive atmosphere in the school. Choose your words carefully, pick words that provoke thoughts, invoke an image in the minds of the students that can make a difference.
The power of words is undeniable. Life and death hang in the balance. Words can either create or destroy. If your words serve as a provocation or a call to action, they might change the minds and thus the lives of some of the students present.
Remember, you can linger in the hearts and minds of these young people for a lifetime, long after they leave the security of the school’s walls. Remember the assembly provides an opportunity to reach many more students than a single classroom ever will.
Focus on reaching one student. That student can then help reach others in the assembly. If you can manage this at every assembly, within a matter of months you can begin to positively impact the whole environment of the school.
Thoughts of the day for Teachers
Before a school can become a positive influence on its students, it needs to do the same for its teachers. If you are in charge of the students, try and create an environment where teachers arrive early and meet before the school assembles.
These meetings should be focused on creating a positive, supportive, and happy teaching environment. A teaching community that is happy and positive can have a huge influence impact on its school.
How can you expect students to be happy to learn from a teacher who is miserable? Thoughts of the day can foster a positive, can-do attitude among your teaching staff. Teachers should lead by example, bringing a positive attitude to their interactions with their fellow teachers, parents, and most importantly their students.
Thoughts of the day can be used for younger kids too. Even though they have a limited vocabulary, they can learn through song, dance and total physical response.
Fostering a positive, can-do attitude at such a young age will stand to children for the rest of the lives. Children are never too young to experience the power of positive thoughts.
Fostering a positive attitude among your students
Negativity is a huge barrier to success in students. It surrounds them and prevents them from achieving the most simple goals. It can prevent them from accomplishing anything in life. Negative thoughts in the classroom can hold a student back from reaching their potential.
By fostering a positive attitude in their classroom, teachers can play a huge role in their students’ lives. Watch the difference in students when they take the simple step of just starting to believe in themselves. Introduce some Thoughts of the Day into your classroom environment, ask the students to debate its meaning, and how it could impact their lives.
Any interaction with their parents should be focused on getting them on the same page and offer them a chance to witness the change in their child firsthand.

How to create a positive environment in your school and classroom
Here are some tips to help your students think and act in a positive manner.
Lead by example
Be a positive role model for your students. Act in an encouraging, optimistic manner, if you believe your students will. Your level of positivism directly impacts the results you will see among your students. If they witness others improving when they follow your example, they are more likely to copy and seek the same results.
The classroom should encourage optimism in all things, create practical experiments that demonstrate how happiness and positivism impact your success.
Sometimes you are all the example your students need. Don’t be afraid to share a personal goal with your students and stay positive in sharing your journey with them. Show them how optimism can create an environment for happiness and how positivism directly influences the success rate, of any set goal you may have.
We all know that seeing is believing, and there’s no better role model to demonstrate success than you. Your students are more likely to succeed when tackling the challenges of academic life when they are learning in a positive environment.
Visualization is extremely useful if students are more likely to succeed when they are encouraged to only see a positive outcome from the start. Setting regular goals with your students to ensure that they know what success looks like.
Start with simple goals and build more complicated and difficult ones. Set a series of rewards so students learn a valuable lesson. Get them to discuss how does it feel to be successful? Why is this important, why does it matter?
Statements such as “I can’t” need to be eliminated from the classroom. When a student uses it, the best advice is to take a step back and ask them questions such as “What makes you think this?”, “Can I help you?” or “Do you know what you need to be able to do it?”.
When you react to negativity in this manner, it encourages a positive open relationship in the classroom. Once your student provides you with a viable answer, formulate a plan to get the whole class involved in building a “We can” environment.
Focus on creating positive thought patterns in the classroom
As you highlight the negative aspects of the classroom environment to your students, ensure that you focus on replacing the negatives with positives. This process has to be relentless. All negatives need to be rejected in favor of a positive. This could be considered as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
It has proven to change people’s behavior and thinking that is directly linked to specific learning difficulties. The more you pursue this process, the more your students’ thoughts and actions will change from negative to positive.
Play an active supporting role in your students’ transformation
Become their biggest fans. As their teacher, you will have to be aware of the influence of your thoughts, words, and actions on the confidence of your entire classroom.
Students who do not believe in themselves need to have someone who believes in them, someone who accepts them for who they are and is encouraging them to change their destructive behavior.
Simply because you know it is their best interest. As your students follow this path, they will grow in self-belief developing positive thoughts and actions.
Never lose sight of the fact that with any behavior modification, rewards are an important cog in the wheel of success. This will prove to be a massively motivating factor. Remember that they will not always succeed, so teaching them to deal with failures is equally important.
How to switch off the low feelings and recover to the highs that success brings. The success of your journey lies firmly in teaching the students how to react. So rewards will be crucial to refocus the students on the positive pathway.
Building this type of everyday environment in the classroom can be helped by introducing thoughts of the day for students at the start of every day. They can help not alone improve students outlook about themselves, but also their perceptions of their classmates.
The class can start to build an environment that fosters and motivates children to continue their progress and strive to attain and surpass their goals may it be as individuals, group, personal or academic.
It is vital that these strategies are incorporated into a weekly routine. At the end of each week, you should find some time to reflect on the success of your work. Every few weeks, students should be encouraged to reflect on their own achievements and how this new attitude has impacted their lives if any.
Which is more fun, feeling negative or positive? Which answer is more productive, saying “I can” or “I can’t”?
Remember that for this to succeed, one needs to be fully committed to the cause because this will prove extremely rewarding for you as a teacher. It will help you develop the skills needed to become a better teacher. For you to maintain your positive attitude, you need to implement some positive changes in your life.
You will need to do a lot of reflection on yourself, but more importantly, on your students. This will involve some extracurricular work yourself. Remember that this is a process, and like all great journeys, they start with a single step.
